I am interested in exploring the human condition within post – modern environments, taking the human body as the primary axis, as well as a way to examine the individual in society. I like the experiences that involve the body, the mind and emotions.
I predominantly use casting methods as a source of inspiration to explore my symbolic and metaphoric language. This also allows my work to become process led, turning things inside out particularly using the human form as a source of inspiration.
My work can take many other different forms of expression including found objects, drawing, installation, video and photography. By using different mixed media; this allows me to embark onto something new and continue my exploration.
Within my work practice I have dealt with human issues, bringing people close to danger and fear but allowing them to view it as a positive experience, enabling people to face the reality of their own existence. “Finding the beauty in horror”
I express my ideas through materials and light the space around them. Bringing people closer, allowing them to get involved and becoming apart of my work.
Subject matters that I have dealt with and explored are identity, loss of homeland, displacement and the richness of history, of ones ancesteral roots and family.
